Ashford Branch Challenge 2012

Hello and Welcome from Ashford Branch Challenge 2012

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent you will boost your donation.

Our walk is now complete and it was certainly a challenge.  The weather was unkind and at one point we had to leave the hills for safety reasons.  Apart from that one incident we managed to keep going and reached Kirk Yetholm on time.  Thanks to all who have already contributed and especially those we met whilst walking - your generosity is really appreciated.  The hospitality en route and the comradeship was wonderful.  Despite the weather we both really enjoyed the walk and are now planning next year's fundraiser.  Wait out!  Our route was as follows:

20 Jun Middleton to Dufton

21 Jun Dufton to Alston
22 Jun Alston to Greenhead
23 Jun Greenhead to Bellingham
24 Jun Bellingham to Byrness
25 Jun Byrness to halfway point on the border ridge
26 Jun Halfway point on the border ridge to Kirk Yetholm, via 'The Cheviot'
27 Jun Return to Middleton

About The Royal British Legion

For nearly 90 years The Royal British Legion has been listening and caring - providing help and support to anyone who has served, or who is currently serving, in the British Armed Forces, and their dependents - which means that nearly 9.5 million people are eligible to call on us for assistance.

With the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II approaching, the Legion takes its roles as custodian of Remembrance and safeguarding the Military Covenant between the nation and its Armed Forces seriously. We care about those involved in World Wars and the many conflicts since 1945 as well as those still fighting for their country today. Did you know that some may be sent on active service at only 17? So those we help are often much younger than you might think.

This year, as always, British troops have been posted to the forefront of some of the world's most hazardous hotspots and we rely on your help to offer the wholehearted support they deserve.

Please support the important and on-going work of the Legion - your contribution means so much.

The Legion is probably best known for its famous red poppy emblem as well as its annual Poppy Appeal in November but our servicesare needed all year as the demand for our support continues as Service personnel, young and old, call on us for help and guidance. Visit for more information about our work.

Please help us to help those to whom we owe so much.

Thank you.
